What is the turbocharger, let you know clearly!

Time:2021-10-13

The working principle of turbocharger is not complicated. Simply speaking, it drives the turbine through the exhaust gas from the engine, and then drives the turbofan connected with it on the same connecting shaft through the turbine, continuously injecting fresh air into the engine cylinder, so that the air that the cylinder enters in unit time. The more it works, the higher its efficiency.

Turbocharger is a high temperature component, because the gas driving it directly comes from the exhaust gas discharged from the cylinder, and the temperature is as high as 900 C – 1000 C. Under the full load condition, the speed of the turbine can reach 180,000 – 200,000 revolutions per minute. Turbines must operate at such high temperatures at such high speeds, which naturally requires extremely efficient and stable lubrication conditions. And working in high temperature and high pressure environment, all parts of supercharger and lubricating oil must have good high temperature resistance and sealing, so we should start from the following aspects for its maintenance:

Many owners do not know how to choose oil when they change their oil. The damage of turbocharger is usually caused by the damage of oil seal between turbocharger and intake pipe, which leads to large-scale burning of engine oil. Professionals found that the damage of oil seal is largely due to the owner’s failure to replace oil on time, or the use of poor quality oil, resulting in the floating turbine spindle can not be properly lubricated and heat dissipation, thereby damaging the oil seal at high temperature and causing oil leakage.

Therefore, it is suggested that turbocharged engine should choose high-quality oil with high temperature resistance and good oxidation resistance, and pay attention to shorten the oil replacement cycle properly.

The matching clearance between the turbocharger shaft and the Bush is very small, so if the oil used is not clean or impurities enter due to the unclean oil filter, it will cause excessive wear and tear of the turbocharger. In addition, if the inhaled air contains a lot of impurities, once these dust particles enter the high-speed turbocharger impeller, they will impact the turbocharger impeller, resulting in unstable operation of the turbine, wear and tear of the shaft sleeve and sealing parts. Therefore, the use of turbines should pay special attention to the timely replacement of oil filters and air. Air filter to keep turbine clean.

Cold car starts to be chronic.

Hot cars must be idle for a while and then put out.

In the early stage of cold car start-up, the oil temperature is usually relatively low and thick, and the lubrication effect is not good. But when it warms up to normal working temperature, it needs a process and time. If you force the turbine to work at full load in a few minutes, it will increase the wear and tear of the turbine and shorten the life of the turbine.

The correct way to use it is to slow down for a few minutes in the first few minutes of driving, and then step on the accelerator to make the engine run at high speed after the oil is in its best condition. Especially in winter in the north, after the cold car starts, we must pay attention to let the car warm before walking, which is comfortable and comfortable for you.

And parking, because the temperature of the turbine is very high, so after parking, you’d better idle in situ for a while before extinguishing. At this time, the engine oil system and cooling system are still working, which can make the temperature of the turbine a little lower. It should be noted that after extinguishing, the turbine will continue due to inertia. Oil lubrication is still needed when running, and if you suddenly turn off the engine, the whole engine system will no longer work, the cooling system and lubricant supply of the turbine will stop abruptly, and only rely on natural cooling, which will lead to a sharp reduction in the life of the turbine.

It’s the same as regular inspection of the human body. Developing this good habit can help us detect turbine faults in time and prevent them from happening. For example, check the appearance of turbocharger to see whether the sealing rings are damaged, whether the oil inlet pipe and return pipe joints are loose and seepage, whether there is residual organic oil in the exhaust outlet of turbocharger, whether there is organic oil in the straight wall of compressor intake pipe, and whether there is abnormal noise or vibration in turbocharger. Move. If you find the above abnormal phenomena during your normal use, you need to go to the professional repair shop as soon as possible to avoid more serious parts damage.
